I remember looking out of the car window as a child as we passed the film studios. Paramount in particular. I would just smile and wonder what it was like to be on the other side of those gates. I wanted to be an actor. I wanted to drive up to the main gates and be let in! Well, I got in. After working on the background scene in LA for some time, I had worked in every major studio in Hollywood except for Paramount. The jobs were available, I was new to the city, and I needed to know how the business worked. Paramount was special for me because it’s what I remembered wanting the most as a child. I really wanted to shoot something there. My family and I would occasionally eat out at the Astro Burger that’s located right next the studios. We would eat and my dad would sit there and tell me to stay away from gangs. I was working on a show called Community with Joel McHale. It was fun and the cast was friendly, I got to throw food at Joel McHale in a huge food fight scene. I was invited back the following week to work on another show called The United States of Tara with Toni Collete, who is fabulous! I was wearing brand new sparkly chucks that were too small for my fucked up ugly feet. The shoes started to cut into my skin and I started to bleed all over the set. I was leaving my mark at Paramount but not in a hygienic way. I was told to walk back to the trailer to get new shoes from wardrobe. I was walking barefoot across the lot all slow & funky. In so much pain. Feet are bleeding. When I noticed Eddie Izzard laughing at me. I looked at him and said “my feet are bleeding but the shoes are cute.” And he chuckled said “Boy, can I relate to that.”
